The impact of the COVID19 on diverse sectors across the world is no longer news. However, some are more hit than others; that again is not the point. The most crucial point is how to respond to such changes in different sectors and climes. Let us first examine the different ways that the pandemic that hit the world has affected our businesses;

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.

COVID19 Impacts on Businesses

1.    Industries

The impact of the pandemic on industries spans different types, such as tourism, transport, hospitality, health, production, communication, government, finance, and others. However, the impact differs in most of these industries. For instance, in food production, many companies have had to battle with sky-rocketing demands while many production staff is on lockdown. Therefore, it somehow becomes harder to supply the needed groceries the usual way. Response: the government has had to step in, in developed countries, by bringing the required food to citizens. We all know that Covid 19 has impacted business around the world.

2.    Technology

Most businesses that are managing to provide the natural product and services still are learning to depend more on technology. One way to make it happens is by switching to the benefits of promoting business through online channels. At the same time, the presence of restrictions in movement through social distancing forces workers to work from home. Along with this need is an IT education where more online tools are needed. Besides, all administrative and management decisions have to be done virtually. Technology may have been impacted due to Covid, but not in a negative way. So, the impact of Covid on business goes both ways.

3.    Startups

Another type of impact we cannot shy away from is that more businesses are sprouting up. New business ideas in response to the unique needs of the people are growing more prominent. These businesses range from service provision, distribution of face masks, and other PPEs and others. Similarly, the government is encouraging more people to develop new ideas that can help us all overcome the pandemic. On the other hand, there is more need to provide necessary resources.

4.    Employment

Over 70% of startups terminated employee contracts during the COVID19 pandemic. And this factor seems to redirect the career choice away from seeking employment to starting one’s own business. In one way or the other, humans must always find a way to survive amid troubles, only that we don’t yet know how long this present one will last. As a result, the responses and solution may have to be from within, rather than depending on others.

5.    Health

The business of health has also received some impacts in terms of the provision of services to infected persons. Non-health facilities have been bought over and converted to isolation centers to meet up with the demands. Besides, there has been an increasing need for the PPEs, especially the N95 face masks that are currently in-demand in the US. Nations have had to implore different strategies in international trades to import more resources

6. Mental Health

Mental health may seem private, but in fact it can have a severe impact on your business or organization. This should at the very least be at the back of our mind. Covid has impacted the world of business at every level. There is a YouTube Short below (Less than a minute), that gives some motivation on being positive. Please take a minute and watch!
