There is a ton we can discuss when it comes to Tithing. The many topics include discussion on like who should we tithe too (a poor person or our Church)? Others discuss when is it most appropriate to tithe? Here, I don’t want to jump right into these discussions. I want to first go to scripture and get the instructions from God first. We can do Theology afterwards, but we always have to start with Scripture. So, let’s do that! Below you will find a learn what the bible says about Tithing. I love learning about this! Here is the Bible on Tithing!
What I did below was answer a few questions that many ask about tithing. That way when you see my presentation of the Bible verses regarding tithing, you will have a better understanding of what it is and what God is telling us. I hope that this will give you a little more information!
What Is Tithing?
Today, tithing is the practice of allocating a predetermined portion of one’s income to God. The word “Tithe” literally means “tenth,” a tithe typically refers to a tenth of one’s income, but it is frequently used to refer to any sum of money set aside for God. This cash is generally given to the neighborhood parish. The Bible lays the groundwork for tithing from one of the earliest bible stories.
The first book of the Bible, named Genesis, introduces to the idea of saving some or all of one’s income. We see hear the story of the two famous sons of Adam and Eve. Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel, presented “portions” of their flocks and crops to the Lord. The plan was to give thanks to God for a successful harvest by saving a portion of the first crop of the season. So, we see this practice from the first family to our families today.
What Is The Difference Between Tithing and Offering?
An offering is anything additional that you give in addition to a tithe. As stated above, a tithing is a specific amount that you give first (which is 10 percent of your income). After you take care of your expenses and want to donate more, that second donation would be an offering.
Is Tithing Biblical?
Yes, tithing is biblical. In fact, we already see it is a common practice in the fourth chapter of the book of Genesis. Below you will see many bible verses about Tithing.
